Copy of an older photograph that had the handwritten caption “Home of John + Lucia Calkins Station of the Underground R.R. Burned Ames Anderson”. John and Lucia Calkins lived in the Glendale section of Wilbraham and were said to be active in the Underground Railroad. Little shows in the historical record of Wilbraham's involvement, but in “The History of Wilbraham” Chauncey Peck records a reenactment of escaped slaves being helped by Glendale folk as part of the celebration of Wilbraham's 150th Anniversary in 1913.Front and left side of a small cape. Some bare trees surround it and part of a fence is visible on the left of the house. Snow appears to be on the ground.
