Three-quarter length portrait of the Quaker abolitionist and reformer, seated, holding a book, her elbow resting on a side table, a drape in the background.; Title from manuscript note on mount.; Date from duplicate in private collection.; Attributed to Wenderoth, Taylor & Brown from inscription in modern hand on verso.; Frederick A. Wenderoth, William Curtis Taylor, and Frederick Brown, a Philadelphia photographic firm established in 1865, operated until around 1884. Wenderoth, a technician in the studio of Samuel Broadbent starting around 1860, assumed the business of his employer, with his first partner Taylor, around 1863.
