Parler High, Arkansas March 21, 1951 Reel 93, Item 2 Tale of the Witch Who Could Find Things Well, they was an awful good farmer; he was allus a-breakin' ever'thing he had, an' he couldn't get nothing right; and he had an old lady a-stayin' with him, and he said she could go and find anything you lost out in the field. And he said, "Well, why is it that you can find anything that I can't find?" She says, "Show me the row; show me the row, which row you lost your plow-point off in, and I'll find it for you." So she went down the road, and she found his bolts and his plow-point, and come back, and he says,-she says, "What'll you give me to learn you how to find things?" and he says, "Well, I don't know what I'll give you; just anything in the world I can; and she says, "You meet me—Mistuh, you meet me down to the spring tonight just about sundown, and I'll show you how to find things, just like I do." Well; so's he went down there that night, and he got settin' there— he says—she says, "If I ain't there, they'll be someone else there."
