Description

Holograph, signed "Your loving Father."Letter written in pencilWilliam Lloyd Garrison says that today is the 40th anniversary of the "Declaration of Sentiments," forming the American Anti-Slavery Society. Garrison comments on "what a change has been wrought in the condition and destiny of the colored population of the United States." He regrets that reform "in any of its multitudinous phases" is never talked about at the coffee parties attended by Fanny Garrison Villard in Germany.
