The Civilian defense education [1940s] consists of photographs produced by the Office of War Information documenting civilian defense programs in nursery, primary and secondary schools in the Washington, D.C. area; Some of activities portrayed are military drills, physical fitness, cooking, demonstrations, war bond and stamp drives, tending gardensm recycling, and constructing model airplanes.Original negative # : D-10195 ; Caption on back: "Military drill has become an important part of the curriculum at Dunbar High School, Washington, D.
