Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.On verso, the delivery address is "Rev. A. A. Phelps, Boston, New York City." It was postmarked on June 8 in Windham, Ct.In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Elias Sharpe describes the state of affair in Windham in relation to antislavery. He says he hasn’t been able to attend the business of abolitionists recently, but formed an antislavery society in Chaplin, and obtained 26 signatures on a circular in his town alone. After talking about how slavery was discussed at the Christian Conference at Providence, Sharpe promises to circulate antislavery publications if they are sent to him.
