Description

Mrs. F. Phelps Adams, former teacher at Booker T. Washington High School, and University of South Carolina president Dr. James B. Holderman hold hands at the dedication of a historic marker on the former grounds of Booker T. Washington High School. The school, which originally served African-American students as part of Columbia City Schools, operated from 1916 to 1974. The University purchased the former school and provided funds for the historic marker. The marker was planned and designed by the Booker T. Washington High School Foundation.
