Henry, Greg
Description
Woodcut by Greg Henry.Henry was born in Guyana in South America. He currently lives and works in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Much of Henry's deceptively simple imagery is drawn from the memories of the Guyanese yardscapes of his youth. He transforms the animals and common objects of his memories into icons that represent spiritual forces, and the complex relationship between the self and the universe. The rooster is a favorite image. It is most often a symbol of the sky and the soul.Purchase of the Tubman African American Museum.
