The institution, which began in 1899 as the Hawkinsville High School, underwent several name changes, which are represented in the catalogs: the Avery Institute, the Hawkinsville Institute, and the Hawkinsville Rural School. Each catalog includes illustrations and lists the names of all pupils attending the school in a given year.
