Oct. 19, 1854."Title supplied by cataloger.Steinthal remarks on a letter in "The Liberator" [issue number 1052] in which Parker Pillsbury was blamed for not attacking the oppression of the English people by their government. Steinthal tells May that there is little reason for complaint. He compares the English and American ideas of freedom and says that many noblemen favor abolition. Steinthal remarks on a letter in "The New York Times" by Henry A. Wise that defended slavery as a divine institution. He comments caustically on the editor's opinion that "there may be reasons why some races of men should pass through a state of bondage." Steinthal praises the revised form of the "National Anti-Slavery Standard."
