Description
Photograph of an unidentified group of people in an auditorium during the Salute to Youth Awards Program, an event awarding cash scholarships to Martin Luther King Middle School students. The photograph was taken candidly, capturing unprepared speakers and disengaged stares. One woman is behind a podium, in the middle of speaking. Behind her, a woman in a colorful red and blue dress holds a piece of paper, perhaps packing material for the box below her out of which a television has been pulled out of. The television set, no bigger than two or three feet on either side, is being held by a young boy in a black shirt and dark turquoise tie. An exposed calf of a woman in capri-style pants is on the far right, but otherwise, she has mostly been cropped out of the photograph. On the back of the photograph, hand-written notations have been made naming some of those pictured, but it is difficult to read with certainty.1 photograph : col. ; 4 x 6 in.
