Description
A black and white photograph of the interior of the Olgethorpe School at Atlanta University. The photograph shows artwork created by children. These children were most likely taught at the Oglethorpe School as part of the student teaching program. The Oglethorpe School was built in 1904 and trained new teachers, focusing specifically on Kindergarten teachers. This building was associated with the Normal School at Atlanta University. Atlanta University opened on October 13, 1869. The University offered training for African American students of all ages including kindergarten, grade school, normal, industrial, academy and college.
