Caption on back: "Two Negro crews are pictured at 'Toss' cars as their cutters glide down the slip ending a session of boat drill at the U.S. Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., [as] many as 24 companies of recruits (averaging 120 to 130 men to a company) undergo boat drill daily in the Station's harbor on Lake Michigan.
