Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1899-1989.Art Shell, the NFL's first African-American head coach, directing his first practice. Previously, Shell had excelled at offensive tackle with the Raiders, teaming with guard Gene Upshaw to form an impregnable left side. Photo dated: October 4, 1989.
