Holograph, signedTitle devised by catalogerOn verso, the delivery address is "Rev. Amos A. Phelps, No. 5 Heyward Place, Boston." It was postmarked in Worcester on Aug. 9James Gillespie Birney writes to Amos A. Phelps that Phelpśs letter came to his hand ́too late to do anything in relation to your second hint.́ He says ́all that can properly & honorably be done to counteract the scheme to which you refer ought to be done.́ He then discusses the lecturing activities and future plans of John Scoble. Birney also mentions his fatheŕs death and his plan to visit Kentucky
