Description

Holograph, signed.Having learned that the (Massachusetts) committee decided they could not aid the Western [Anti-Slavery] Society or promise to sustain (Oliver) Johnson as editor of the Bugle, Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Jones inquires whether they could help by donating goods. She says: "We must get up another Fair this summer," although fairs are not successful in the west and yield only a small sum. Jones says "yet that sum cannot be obtained from any other source, & we cannot get along without it." They are deeply in debt, but they have resolved to continue the Bugle till the annual meeting in June.
