Description
Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. Below the first line, there is the number "83" written in pencil.Asa Walker writes to Amos A. Phelps complimenting him on his Syracuse Address, stating that "your disection of the doctrines of that adroitly woven Report, is masterly. I do not wonder Warren shrunk from the hideous skeleton, stripped of the mask and drapery. It electrified the churches here wherever it was read." He goes on to explain the effect of Phelps's address on pro-slavery thinkers like William Warren and how they attempted to "make your facts no facts. But they will find stubborn things to deal with." He makes suggestions for the best way to obtain information relating to Mr. Paxton. He has concern for Amos's health and regards his Bible argument as "of vast importance to religion and I sincerely pray you may be enabled to complete it on your plan."
