On the sidewalk to the right are numerous African Americans: two children are playing at the corner; behind them, farther down the walk, stands a young woman perhaps waiting for a ride; other people sit on the front steps, talking, or walk along the sidewalk. The scene is of normal busy day. A streetcar is approaching in the distance. Cars are parked on both sides of the street. Tracks are embedded in the roadway, and electric lines for streetcars are suspended above the roadway.
