Description
Photograph taken looking south at the east side of the 200 block North Caroline Street from its intersection with Mullikin Street in Baltimore, Maryland. This block consists of two- and three-story brick row houses of various sizes and styles. On the first floor of the house on the near corner is a cafe where two African American men are standing, one in the doorway and one on the sidewalk in front. On the wall at the side entrance are signs for products such as Coca-Cola and Royal Crown. A handcart sits unattended at the curb. Street lights are located in the sidewalk, and a lone tree grows in the middle of the block. Beyond the tree is a car parked in the street. Tracks are embedded in the roadway, and electric lines for streetcars are suspended above the center of the street. (Waldeck photograph 31.)
