In this series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from April 8, 1968 in Atlanta, Georgia, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Nancy Wilson arrive for the funeral of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Davis, Jr. discusses his reasons for attending. The clips begin with a shot of Sammy Davis, Jr. getting off a plane and looking at a small notebook that an unidentified black man shows to him. The next clip shows Nancy Wilson deplaning. The next clip shows an unidentified white male reporter with a '5' on his microphone interviewing Davis, Jr.; his remarks are transcribed in full below:"I am very, very thrilled in one sense and very saddened to be in Atlanta under the circumstances, but I think we all came for the same reason: to pay our homage to the man who was slain and to in some way in our own individual ways and collectively to pay respect for the ideals for which he stood in terms of nonviolence."The next clip shows Sammy Davis, Jr. and Nancy Wilson walking across the tarmac with an identified black man and white man as a chauffeur opens the car door for Davis, Jr. and Wilson to enter.Supporting information was taken from the following source: "Who's Who Attending Funeral."
