Description
This folder opens with a portion of a fascinating document by Claude Weaver, SNCC Project Director in Batesville, Mississippi, during Freedom Summer, describing Panola County's population, somewhat unique voter registration situation, and strong local leadership. It is followed by reports of violent and/or threatening incidents that occurred during that summer, and some general reports on Batesville and its prominent citizens.
