Description

Waldo Schmitt was a recipient of the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship. The notebook and list of locations document Waldo Schmitt's work during the resulting funded Expedition to the West Coast of South America, 1926-1927. Information includes data from stations 1-71, August 17, 1925 - December 1,1925. Details usually include locations, dates, temperatures and a combination of weather, location descriptions, salinity, and extensive notes. Notes include descriptions of collecting locations, appearance and characteristics of specimens (listed by scientific name), notes about water samples, and other related information about areas. Includes sketches of specimen parts. Locations include the vicinity of Brazil (Ilha de Paquetá, Ilha de São Sebastião, Iapó, and Rio Negro) and Uruguay (Punta del Este).
