Description
Written and/or collated in 1966, when Black Power folk were ejecting whites from SNCC, Larry Rubin's polished analyses and field reports of his experiences as a white volunteer in the civil rights movement for a four-year period make for vivid and poignant reading. His arrest in Mississippi, while transporting books destined for a freedom school library, and the accusations made against him of bringing in materials advocating the overthrow of the government of Mississippi, recurs in affidavits in his Box 1, Folder 10 folder. Here, his views on black and white relations both within the movement and without are an unusual and eloquent contribution to the Freedom Summer documents.
