Description
Writing from Colorado internment camp on segregation in the mess halls: from now on they will be eating in the Japanese mess. "Did you hear about how a barb wire fence was built between the Japanese blocks and the administration area (a pass being needed to go to even the post office)? Well, the regional director, Mr. Joe Smart... on a visit here last week telephoned Washington about it. The local army had used their own interpretation of the phrase that went something like this 'fence around the camp.' It was a swell sight yesterday and the day before to see the fence going down piece by piece." Gang problems, greatly exaggerated, in camp between Santa Anita and Merced.
