Elderly seated African-American woman sitting next to the hearth in a rural kitchen. This photograph along with other stereotypical scenes are located in the back of "The Chesapeake Bay Country" publication in a section entitled "In the Good Old Days". The caption under the photograph reads "Old Types Occasionally Seen on The Eastern Shore". See: Earle, Swepson, The Chesapeake Bay Country (Baltimore: Thomsen-Ellis Company, 1929).
