Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Elizabeth Pease Nichol writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to taking advantage of the return of Charles Folson and giving him her pamphlets from the British India press. She thanks her for sending "Right and Wrong in Massachusetts" which deeply interests her but also saddens her that there is a division in the ranks of abolitionists in America. She writes, "Let us pray that the breach may be quickly healed & that all may yet work together for good to the great cause of human freedom." She fears that her request did not reach George Thompson in time. George Bradburn came to visit earlier in the week to lecture. When reference is made in Maria's abolitionist papers to the British India Society, she would like a copy forwarded to her. She hopes to join George Thompson at the anti-slavery meeting in Manchester. She requests one or two copies of a letter from Wendell Phillips to William Lloyd Garrison which appeared in the Liberator.
