First woman to be appointed as intern at Kansas City General Hospital. Tried to secure appointment at Philadelphia General (Blackley) Hospital but refused alone on grounds of race. The director of health, Dr. Krewson, advised Dr. Alexander that she could not receive the appointment if she passed the examinations first in a thousand.
