In response to his query regarding "negroes taking work of college grade" and earning advanced degrees, regretting "we have no data on hand that would give you more than very general figures"; enclosing a copy of the last report published in "The Crisis" with relevant information and pointing out its limitations; and supplying his own impression "that a Negro Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture would find openings both for education and research."
