The report examines the status of African Americans in Portland, Oregon and progress in race relations between 1945 and 1955. The report consists of a survey of the treatment of African Americans in social and economic life and provides recommendations that could lead to better race relations. Information provided includes a legislative record concerning race relations, issues on housing and segregation, economic opportunities and fair employment practices, organized labor, business, social opportunities, education and religion.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
