Black and white photograph of a crowd gathering during the Chattanooga sit-ins of February 1960. This photograph was taken on either the third or fourth day of protests. Due to adult presence, it is probably from the fourth day. The crowd was gathered in front of Holiday Shoes in the foreground and Craig's Red Cross Shoes in the background. The crowd in the foreground was predominately white and a crowd of African Americans was in the background near the entrance of Craig's Shoes. A lone officer stood in the right of the photograph talking to an older white woman. A group of six officers stood in the center of the photograph and talked to a few white bystanders. Even more bystanders surrounded the circle of officers. The name "Wilson" is written on the back referring to the photographer, likely Delmont Wilson of the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
