Description

Typewritten biographical account of John O'Donnell's (1749-1805) life from 1785 to 1805 written by JL or Josephine Lee Chatard. Mentioned on page 4 of this document are the original portraits painted by Charles Willson Peale of Mrs. John O'Donnell, Mary O'Donnell, and Mrs. Thomas Elliott, whose portraits can be seen in the three photographs in this collection (see akop029, akop030, and akop031, respectively). (Editor's note: When this account was written is not known, although it would have to have been written after the 1925 exhibit of Charles Willson Peale's paintings of members of the family mentioned on page 4. Another curiosity is use of the account author's maiden name, JL for Josephine Lee, since she had married William Miles Chatard circa 1917. Perhaps she used her maiden name so that her connection to the O'Donnell family would be more obvious.)
