Description
Daniel C. Blackburn, 42, of San Fernando, waits word on his possible extradition to Indiana on fugitive charges. He tells of his 20 years as a fugitive from Indiana law. He was originally sent to jail on forgery charges with a sentence of two to fourteen years at the Indiana State Reformatory, at Pendleton. After completing 47 months at the institution, and with four months left to do before having to appear before a parole board, Blackburn was transferred outside to a farming detail, and escaped. He did ranch work in various states, and eventually married, divorced, and re-married during his 20 years as a fugitive from the law. Recently discovered, he now awaits an extradition hearing before Governor Earl Warren. In this photograph, Mr. Blackburn can be seen hanging out the wash in the backyard of his home, located at 14735 S. Brand Ave., San Fernando. Photograph dated December 12, 1950.
