An entry in the 1931 Beloit yearbook narrated by the camp's pet dog, Couss-Cous.LOGAN EXPEDITION TO ALGERIA" The Logan African Expedition of 1930 was not quite so harmonious and un-incidental as one might gather from the precipitant remarks of its members. Here's the inside story recorded by mental telepathy from the barkings and growlings of Couss-cous, the Algerian pup pet of Camp Logan."At first there were only eight people in camp, five fellows, Mr. and Mrs. Pond, and daughter (too young) Chomingwen. The situation was fine. Ten green tents to house the seven green men in; ten nice sets of tin plates and spoons and kettles and so forth to cook the nice sheep and eggs in; and four silly shell heaps to dig silly bones and flints out of; all in all a fine situation for everybody but me. I got the outside of a tent to sleep in, the entrails of the sheep to eat, and the no-good stones and bones to dodge out of the way of."I had just gotten to know most everyone by the particular smell of his boots or jacket when two new fellows hove into camp, two weeks late.
