Hadley, Anna R Crisis (Firm) Dill, Augustus Granville
Description
Sending a check "to avail myself of a renewal and to special offer of Mr. Johnson's poems"; mentioning that as a reader she has shared her copies of the Crisis with others in order to pass on "the fair and Christian attitude towards all race problems" but is careful in doing so because she does not wish to encourage the bitterness that "must often arise in the hearts of those who do not have a square deal"; offers examples to correct the printed claim that people, in this case Quakers and facilitators of the underground railroad, who did not suffer "for the cause of the colored man."
