Description

Photograph taken for a story in the Oklahoma Times newspaper. Caption: "These bars kept Henry Aro, Negro, in the jail at Chickasha, but they failed to prevent the mob of Friday night from killing the prisoner. The picture shows what is left of the door leading to the Negro's cell. Failing to open the door, the mob tore through the door and the adjoining wall to approach the cell. National guardsmen cleared the jail after the Negro had been shot."
