She stands in the middle of a room in which pews and chairs, full of parishioners, face inward, creating a circle. The wall shown on the right is lined with windows. The Decatur Society, founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1943, was active in the civil rights movement of the 1960s and today operates a Quaker school.
