Description

From May 1861 to June 1862 John Hall served in the 6th Alabama Infantry. In the letter he discusses measles and other sickness in camp ("I suppose some twelve or more have died"); troop movements; and upcoming campaigns. He mentions that he will be sending this letter by a "negroe boy" traveling to Montgomery, Alabama. A transcription is included.
