She mentions an attempt to reopen the African slave trade and tells May that she and her friends collected money for the relief of the sufferers in Kansas. Miss Wigham says that Julia Griffiths is collecting money for Frederick Douglass' newspaper. She reports that Mary Anne Estlin is not in good health and is endeavoring to perpetuate the good works of her father, John Bishop Estlin. Miss Wigham discusses a number of English and Irish abolitionists.
