Letter regarding Hays' 1958 defeat November 12, 1958 Dear Brother Hays, The Student Government Senate of Wayland Baptist College voted unanimously last Thursday to let you know that we appreciate the moderate stand you took in the Little Rock Integration Crisis. Eventhough the segregationists defeated you in the recent election, we believe that your loss was not in vain. As president of the Southern Baptist Convention, you have set an unselfish example that might point many of our bretheren to a higher plain of social thought.
