Description

fiddles; train imitations; voice Collected by Merlin Mitchell Transcribed by Kyle Perrin Reel 24 Items 1-2 Troy High, Dal Beal, Roland Williams High, Ark. March 16, 1950 Ragtime Annie (Fiddle and two guitars) Mitch..We're at the home of Troy High near High, Arkansas, and we're going to have some string music tonight. A fiddle and two guitars are going to start out playing Rag Time Annie. That was Troy High, Roland Williams, and Dal Beal in a three-way arrangement. And the next song they're going to do is the Wabash Cannon Ball. Mr. Dal Beal will be playing the fiddle and Roland Williams is going to sing. Wabash Cannon Ball From the great Atlantic Ocean to the wide Pacific shore, From Maines flowing mountains to the plain by the shore, I mean I'll blow it loud and clear as a rippling water fall, There'll never be no changes on the Wabash Cannon Ball. Now, Eastern states are dandy, the people always say, From New York to St. Louis and Chicago by the way, I mean I'll blow it loud and clear as a rippling water fall, There'll never be no changes on the Wabash Cannon Ball. That old daddy Clatton(?), may his name forever stand, Will long be remembered in the courts of Alabam; His earthly race is over and the curtain round him fall, They're carrying him home to Dixie on the Wabash Cannon Ball.
