Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Manuscript addressed from "43d Street New York".Manuscript dated "Friday May 12."George Thompson informs William Lloyd Garrison that since he had agreed to speak at the Cooper Institute, he had been troubled by the thought that Garrison might "disapprove" of his conduct in doing so, and states that he can now see that his "presence at the meeting may be misunderstood". Thompson assures Garrison that he has "not the slightest sympathy" with those "who in late years have opposed & misrepresented" Garrison. Thompson informs Garrison that he will return to Boston immediately following the delivery of his speech, and states his hopes to see Garrison upon his return.
