Brigham Young’s theater and comments on the “freshness and naturalness of the performers.” A rival Gentile theater is being opened, but it is not expected to succeed. The excellence of the Mormon theater is largely due to Mrs. Julia Dean Hayne. The poetic efforts of Miss Sarah E. Carmichael, including a lengthy piece entitled, “The Funeral of Lincoln.”
