Holograph, signed.Title supplied by cataloger.May reports that Reverend Alonzo Ames Miner, James Buffum, "The Christian Examiner," and others had spoken favorably of the latest Annual Report of the American Anti-Slavery Society. May is depressed over the state of the nation, but concludes his letter, "Never despair, even in the darkest hour."
