This photograph shows Hamilton Holmes (center), Donald Hollowell (left), and Alfred "Tup" Holmes (right), Holmes' father. The three of them stand in a doorway. Hollowell holds a hat and a cigar in his right hand.In 1961 Hamilton Holmes became one of the first African American students to gain admission to the University of Georgia after a two-year legal battle, led in part by Hollowell. Hamilton Holmes's father, Tup, was an Atlanta businessman.
