Description

Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript contains envelope with blue two pence postage stamp.Louis Alexis Chamerovzow writes to John Bishop Estlin in regards to being ill. The printing of the conference proceedings has been delayed due to the Christmas holidays. He is astonished that any doubt should be expressed respecting George Thompson's speech on the motion of Mr. [Francis] Bishop. Thompson defended the American society. He thinks it would have been wiser if Bishop had abstained from presenting his motion. He believes that Pillsbury's attack on "delinquent American friends was not in good taste, nor was it to the point, because their shortcomings had nothing to do with us as a Society, thought it was dear the object was to saddle us with the responsibility of them." He also informs him that "Slave Life in Georgia" is out and should be circulated on account of the "interior view it gives of slavery."
