Index to the oral history interview with Sandra Butler-Truesdale. An African-American woman who grew up in the U Street Corridor neighbrohood of Washington, D.C. She recounts her family's history of civil rights activism, her childhood involvement with the music scene, her graduation from Cardozo Senior High School and Howard University. Her personal history charts her connections through her work as a cosmetologist to famous names in the music business and follows the changing character of the U Street Corridor.Sandra Butler-Truesdale worked in Youth Opportunity Services in the district government after graduation from Howard University, developing music programs for youth empowerment. She later worked as a cosmetologist for James Brown and met many famous performers.
