Replying to Darden's letter, dated August 10, 1917, contained on the top portion of this letter, to the Secretary of War, Chief Signal Officer McConnell responds that the Secretary of War said that there are no colored aero squadrons being formed and that is why the colored men who have applied to the Aviation section of the Signal Corps. cannot be considered. If it is decided that colored aero squadrons will be formed then colored men will be able to apply.
