Ward (b. 1927) was an Atlanta attorney who was a partner in the law firm of Hollowell, Ward, Moore and Alexander in the early 1960s. He later served as a Georgia State Senator from 1965 to 1974. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter appointed him to a federal judgeship on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Ward was the first African American appointed to the federal bench in Georgia.
