National Florence Crittenton Mission

Description

This folder contains materials created/collected by the National Florence Crittenton Mission (NFCM), which was chartered by Congress in 1898. Florence Crittenton homes were maternity homes and hospitals established in cities throughout the U. S. and Canada to provide residential care for unmarried mothers and their children and to undertake preventive and protective work for young girls. This folder specifically contains materials relating routine correspondence, including a letter of recommendation from Kate Waller Barrett to Sarah Malone regarding the collection of funds to start homes for African American unwed mothers, constitution and bylaws, finances and plans for construction of new home, and the length of time required for girls to stay in homes after birth of their babies.
