Description

Holograph, signedTitle devised by catalogerManuscript dated "8th mo. 13th 1864"Alfred Love reports that he has received a letter calling for the discontinuation of the Liberator, and exclaims his surprise that a reader of the Liberator for "thirty years" would "say one word, or do one act" to curb the paper. Love boasts that he will "take pleasure in sending two new subscribers" for every one who calls for dissolution of the paper. Love offers his thoughts on the presidential election, while noting that he himself cannot bring himself to vote, and asserts that the president must be one who is in touch with the common will, and acts in accordance to the wishes of the masses
